Strosseses 'Atrocity Archive' is dead good thus far. There have been LARTS, firearms, fuck-off lasers, nameless horrors and the alt.poly FAQ ... And I'm only on chapter five.

I shall be slightly disappointed if half my F-L isn't thinking "That sounds like a jolly good weekend..."

I'll also have to bother Anchor Books for 'The Ipcress file' and maybe some HP Lovecraft.

There's a longer post that wants writing about an aspect of me being rubbish, but I'm not sure that there's any useful way of approaching it w/o looking like I'm appealing for a sympathy vote by beating myself up in public, thus making an end-run around the people who'd be justifiably peeved with me and managing self-justification without actually dealing with the original problem and its fall-out.

Not that I've seen that happen on LJ before now. Dear me, no.

Now I've constructed the meta-framework for an entire series of self-serving LJ entries, there's no real point in bothering with them. Hurrah!

i just finished reading the atrocity archives a few weeks ago. dead good.

the only thing that irked me (which seems to happen more at the beginning) is his insistence on trying to cram as many geek buzzwords into the text like it's some sort of nerd credential. it gets a bit tiresome to read all these things put in there for no real purpose than it feels like showing off.

but as i said, that goes after a bit, and the book continues to improve. loved it.

though it also made me want to go back and pick up loads of old len deighton books :)

You're right about the over-excited regurgitation of buzzwords. I'd thought to mention it myself but, um, didn't.

Len Deighton. Yes.

Why hasn't anyone made a techno record out of the Ipcress noise?

I once fell asleep to the Ipcress File. As it was on DVD, rather than VHS, it looped for the next 8 hours, and I woke up having had some rather peculiar dreams.

I dread to think what'd happen if someone ever said "Now, listen to me" to me...

Fine. Let's just cut out the middle man and I'll say "I like you anyway" :-)

What I really want to know is, what's Mecha-Zazz's position on the whole robobadger-vs-Internet thing ?

I'm not sure. I'd go and ask, but...

You could send a telegram. That would be safer.

Presumably Mecha-Zazz already incorporates a telegraphic reception apparatus ?

Yes. An intrinsically safe one.

(Where do I find some poor sod of an artist who'll draw this for no money?)
