Buy my rubbish old CDs.

Edit: "I have a number of CDs that I do not listen to any more - I am selling them off at very reasonable prices, do have a look and see if any take your fancy"

Yes and no. On one hand, I invoke the humpty-dumpty defence, which is nearly see-through given the regularity of its use by those who can't order their words correctly.

On the other, one had to develop a certain detachment, lest one finally snap after listening to one too many 'nearly good enough' CDs and go round the perpetrator's house to berate them in person.

The sense of being let down by a CD that's got a fine second half or a good couple of tracks is a terrible thing. I suspect it's hard work to measure up to something like 'Come visit the big bigot', 'Feed me wierd things' or 'Computerworld'. Must be awful in my record collection. Cheek by jowl with SPK white labels, Tackhead 12s and the surly mob of Big Black records.

If I were a zeitgeist-wielding hipster, I'd find a way to reconnect this with the long Long Tail tale.

I mean, it must be hard to compete with All The Other Bands In The World, especially if you only have a few songs of greatness in you.

But on the third hand, that greatness oughtn't be thrown in the bin just because you can't don't have a standard dozen songs to make a standard industrial package. That's just too Taylorish for comfort.
