I really think, on balance, that I should do a lot more sitting outside in bright sunlight, drinking beer and talking rubbish.

In the countryside, naturally.

(I suspect the pong of factor-25 has something to do with my mood, because it reminds me of holidays that include, um, sitting outside in bright sunlight, drinking beer and talking rubbish.)

Perhaps there is something of a pattern here.

I don't imagine you mean Memphis, Tennessee...

Well, the reference is a fine song by The Colourblind James Experience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ctiog-nHHA

I fear not.

Part of today's experience[1] has been to just bake quietly in the middle of nowhere while listening to birdsong and distant tractors. Then on the drive home become seriously distracted by the sight of Cam church tower next to a line of conifers. It's a bit bloody daft to be so emotionally attached to the arse-end of Gloucestershire (rather than something properly striking like the Lake District, Pembrokeshire or the Cornish coast) but it is what it is, and I am a bloody yokel.

[1] And part of yesterday when I went out on my bike and found myself navigating unfamiliar parts of Bristol by church tower. A wonky form of point-to-point, if you will.

If this is Gloucestshire, then I don't blame you for waxing poetic over it: http://thundafunda.com/2/traveling-pictures-tourism/tourism-nature-pictures55.php

The cute parts of Gloucestershire are all the constructed bits: honeyed stone churches, village greens, stone mushrooms.

Wordsworth or Ruskin probably wouldn't have gone for it in much the same way as the Lakes.

It certainly sounds like a plan to me.

This weekend has lead me to conclude similar about rivers, having spent all of my weekend beside or inside one.
