The demo code does talk to a PC. A small hurrah for not chucking out the homebrew gender-changer (RS232 only, sadly) and a length of serial cable liberated from HPL.

Does anyone else do the pliers-and-elastic-band trick as a seriously portable alternative to a bench vice?

There now follows a brief slideshow.

Nice SGI granite keyboard... I spilled coke on mine and ruined it... that was my favorite keyboard until I picked up the Das Keyboard 2

It's the only bit of the Indigo that still works. Lovely plumage, shame about the works.

Is that second one the Parcel Force building by Temple Meads?

Yes. I was rather taken by the sunlight in the corridoor.

Prefer molegrips.

I'm intrigued by this: http://mbed.org/ but really I need an idea for a project before I can be arsed.

I did this with an mbed:

and it all worked very well.

I commend it to you. Once you find your muse.

Who DOESN'T do the pliers/elastic band thing? It's either that or grow a third arm :)

Who needs a bench vice when you have blu-tack? Lots and lots of blu-tack...

The pliers and elstic band trick? Some people pay good money for that sort of treatment.

It's the Hayward Gallery on the South Bank. Although it actually looks like an exhaust port for a Handwave Drive powered by modern art.

I've just re-played Quake II for the retro value (and trying to get the new laptop to behave for graphics). You can imagine my views on what should be fired at that building.

...and as for Bristol Parkway station...

:p

It's a bit of a dark and satanic art-mill when the wind's sweeping through the concrete precincts (no bugger discussing Chekhov there), but I rather like the Modernism of the place and the way it's become a fuck-you to the Palace of Swords Reversed that is the Square Mile.

Parkway's a shithole, mind.

(The quality of your employer's rDNS is as expected.)

Interesting; I've been playing with butterflies myself, with an eye to put them in control of buildings.

Molegrips here too, full size and the little ones on my Leatherman Wave. I've got one of those croc-clips-on-articulated-arms-and-a-magnifying-glass things too, but it mostly just annoys me rather than do anything useful.
