Doom, doom, doom, etc.
Jan. 23rd, 2009 02:05 pm“The City of London is finished, the financial centre of the world is moving east. All the money is in Asia. Why would it go back to the west? You don’t need London.”
Which, um, might be an interesting outcome.
Perhaps we could start with some proper socialist government. With apprenticeships and making things. Then queueing, tractors and a glorious five-year plan to mark an end to this futile experiment with capitalism.

Date: 2009-01-23 03:08 pm (UTC)...albeit even the name is a lie. Though it gives the people the illusion of 'equality' with empty promises of being 'central' and as such available to all and fair. This is a lie propagated to increase oppression! 'Central' heating is little more than a pipe-based metaphor for the evils of the world designed to act as a constant reminder to the working man that he should 'know his place'. The 'Boiler' sits above all. From its position of favour and advantage it holds down the numerically superior radiators with the lagged pipes of Fascism. Yet this goes even further. The radiators calmly accept the boiler as their overseer, unknowingly, they are actually prey to the shadowy manipulations of an elite group of transistors that revel in the sinister title of 'Thermostat'.
Coal fires for the people!

Quentin looked at the earnest faces of the children. It was true. He had thrown himself into his work in order to avoid his own feelings when his daugher, George, had come out as a lesbian.
"A good point, Julian. But surely your public schooling puts you in a similar position vis-a-vis the ruling elite."
Julian started to speak, but Dick interrupted excitedly.
"Uncle! You've not been reading your post. We wrote to you last week when we formed a worker's collective in the lower fifth common room. The people's committee sent a delegation to the Worker's Educational League and they voted to recognise us."
Etc.
It just writes itself.
