hirez: More graf. Same place as the other one. (Happy cycling)

That was, um, fun.

In the same way that charging up Helvellyn (and a set of others I can't remember) during a Youth Hostelling week a very long time ago (the same week that South Georgia was occupied) was fun. Not at the time, but about thirty seconds after you stop.

Did not come last. (Round in 4:18) Wiltshire is very nice at this time of year. Have spectacularly sunburned knees.

Congratulations! That's amazing that you finished it.

(Your poor knees. Who would have thought?)

Congrats, my dear! I envy you physically determined people who actually do things like this. I'm happy if I run up and down the stairs a few times daily. /g/

The physically determined types have always been other people, which is why I was in a bit of a state about it previously.

Up until VP, I'd not really pushed myself in unfamiliar directions. Good things came out of that, so...

The determination comes with practice - nothing like learning what the body is actually capable of to give you confidence.

Well done!

Hurrah! Any other major pains ?

Not as such. I'm lacking leverage in my knees, though.

Do you know how you feel about the Dynamo yet ? Is it more or less plausible ?

It's more plausible from a 'doing the miles' point of view.

On the other hand, my right ankle is a complete disaster today. Not-very-conincidentally with the pushbiking, I've had a man maniuplating the thing and now I have a lot of extra movement in both feet. At the expense of some pain on the right.

So I don't know, quite.

I bet you will sleep soundly. I could not bike over 90 miles in one day (at least not at present). I'm glad that your bike held up and that there were not any mechanical difficulties. Was there a lot of uphill climbing or long agonizing inclines?

The first climb of the day out of Lacock was a bit of a nightmare, but after that it wasn't too bad.

Congrats! Sunburn on the knees sounds entirely predictable - once it's happened. Like the way my rainjacket leads to the soaking of my trousers at mid-thigh when biking, because the rain pours merrily down the jacket to the horizontal surface.
Hey, if I wanted to bike in a leisurely fashion about the flatter parts of the UK, for a week or less, would it make more sense to hire a bike, or buy a cheap one?

It's hard to know. The last time I hired a bike, it was a poorly-maintained high street MTB (All flash stickers and badly set up suspension) and I think if I'd wanted it for longer than a half-day it would have been cheaper to buy something equally nasty and live with the rubbishness.

On the other hand, if the hire-place aren't completely useless and keep nice kit, that would be much less nasty.

Hire, probably. Since it's less hassle.
