Bad Brains/RAH against I
Jul. 2nd, 2007 11:39 amYears ago, I read a short story that, as far as I could recall over the weekend, involved a PI dealing with rum coves who travelled hither and yon by means of mirrors. I posted a YASID on the splendid and hand-tooled Making Light, and was quickly informed that it was likely 'The unpleasant profession of Jonathan Hoag'. A quick poke at the Wikipedia entry revealed that it was indeed the story in question.
Oddly, the various parts of the plot had become disconnected in the time since I read it and I'd become convinced that the fingernails, thirteenth floor office and picnic were scenes from a Hitchcock film strangely missing from all the lists of his works. So much so that I can see James Stewart in some of them.
Funny old things, brains.
