... And if you've been keeping up, you'll understand why I fired off the remaining shots on the reel and sent it off to the chemist.

(If you've not been keeping up, why not sod off? I mean that in a positive sense - please don't feel you have to keep this drivel on-list in some bizarre 'friend'-contractual pact. Hoover the JH-R out of the view that is not the default_view while you're at it.)

Hm. Well. There's some magic Lomo-tech that renders anything captured with it as instantly seventies and foreign. Really old pictures go sepia. These have gone... Flared. And by cracky the thing guzzles light like a photon-vampire. A good half of the pictures look exactly like the sleeve of 'Loveless', there are some that make London look like some place where Trabants are currency, others that seem to be Ballardian reconstructions of the cover of Autobahn and one or two good ones that entirely defy description or indeed recollection.

A result, then. I may get the next set burned to CD.

[ I still have no particular desire to 'take photographs' in any sort of active or recognised sense. There are already people who do that well and regularly and I don't want to seem to cheapen their turf by impinging on it.

However, I would like to be able to return from wanderings with a set of images that seem to have no bearing on anything I or anyone else concerned may have done or experienced. ]

Soon, I will bang on about footwear.

In a mildly entertaining coincidence, you were in the front of my head while mulling the form of said footwear ramble.

If you want a really retro look, get yourself some Efke film and shoot it under tungsten light. It will give you a 30s look, because it is film from the 30s, still made in exactly the same way in Croatia on machines salvaged from Germany at the end of WW2.

I'd use it more myself 'cos I like the look, but the goddamn stuff just won't lay flat, it's a bastard to scan or print. You can have a dozen-odd rolls of it for free, if you want.

Do you know if it's available for box-brownies? I have some film for my "new' toy, but it's modern, just rewound for the brownie spools... Not the same at all.

I don't know I'm afraid, but these people (http://www.retrophotographic.com/) probably do...

Thank you for a splendid offer, but this box seems to think that 800 speed film (ok, this was a reel of free Shonk-o-chrome-GTX) is the bare minimum for rendering images that look anything other than grey and depressing... Oh, wait. That's where I live, isn't it?

Ah, this stuff is ISO 50, and people used to shoot it handheld, indoors, at night! They don't make 'em like they used to...

Foot Fetish?

Soon, I will bang on about footwear.

This phrase has such a different meaning here in the U.S. . . . ;)
