I'm quite looking foward to buying new trousers. Am thinking about heading down to marcrus to see if I can find combats that don't fall apart in two weeks or less.
I fear not. The thought of a high-pressure boiler near one's gonads fills a chap with trepidation. Though perhaps there's another use for asbestos grundies.
There's a big roll of asbestos fabric here. If we can find a consumable sewing machine, then we really ought to make Proper Usenet Y Fronts, just as Art.
My best recent clothes purchase was the Carhartt canvas jacket I bought at Rasenicks (http://www.rasenicks.com/Carhartt.htm) (J131 on that page) in Chicago last year. It does appear to be indestructible and cosy to boot.
Black moleskin and the sewing machine. The Redcot corporate trousers are calling to you.
Has anyone got a source for '68 pattern UK Winter weight combats ? My last pair are getting aged, and the double-layer stuff is just teh job for this weather.
Don't panic...it happened to Ross too - he now actually owns trousers other than combat trousers. He now has a dressy pair of Lip Service combat trousers, Lip Service pinstripe trousers and a rather fetching pair of 60's styled trousers. All of this after he married me while wearing his best combats at the time. :-)
