Impermanent vacation
Sep. 5th, 2004 08:57 pmBecause the weather's being bloody marvellous, I press-ganged people into my car and dragged them down to Brean Down. There are a lot of caravan parks at that end of the world. An awful lot. Interspersed with 'family restaurants' and pubs that offer 'live entertainment' - presumably and end-of-the-pier style patter-man, a conjurer, a bit of singing and a couple of hands of bingo to round the evening off - or a 'children's disco'. Disconcerting would be a good word to describe that sort of thing. Eventually, as you approach the down, the caravans run out, until it's just you and a lump of land. Oh, and two caffs, a bird museum, a carpet shop and a car park.
Odd.
I'm knackered - A deal of walking on a warm day will do that to a chap - so can't be arsed talking you through the slides available here. Make up your own narrative if you like. It's likely going to be more interesting than the one I'd come up with.
