I was startled to discover that a (Chinese, deactivated) AK weighs about the same as a Macbook Pro. Or at least that's what it feels like. I could consult the internet for tiresome accuracy, but that would spoil things.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to pick 'Stonemouth' as holiday reading. Might have had a bit of a moment at some Barnstaple traffic lights, might have been hayfever. If I suffered from same.

I wasn't particularly paying attention by that point, but if I remember correctly from previous listenings it's forty thousand five hundred pounds per square inch. That's very sad.

FWIW, I don't suffer from hayfever - normally. But this isn't a normal year, and this year I'm on steroids and inhalers. I hadn't had an asthma attack - as in, proper full-on attack requiring an inhaler - in something like nearly 8 years before last week.

So don't discount hayfever even if you've never had it before. All the plant life is spaffing in unison this year thanks to the late spring.

David Tennant read Stonemouth as Book at Bedtime on Radio 4 before the book was in the shops. It worked stunningly well. So I read the whole thing with his voice in my head. OK, so my feelings for David Tennant are not entirely healthy, but if you can track it down I suspect it would have a whole lot more impact now.
