Ugh. Bloody weather. The slugs have eaten the pickling cucumbers and the coriander and spinach bolted due to the randomness of the conditions. The sodding ferns love it of course, but then anything that stopped evolving that long ago survives out of bloody-mindedness.

Yeah, my parsley's bolted too.

The parsley's pretty much the only stuff that's having a thrive. Gr, arg, etc.

Although. I now have some strawberry plants rescued from a garden that had been left wild for several decades. Lord alone knows what variety they are. Large and vigorous, I suspect.

Mine is undying parsley - seems to have cheerfully survived two winters and almost total neglect.

Apparently it's a bumper year for slugs.

Hm. Yes. The mild winter would do it. Last year was slug-free b/c we'd had two good winters and that killed most of the eggs/spawn/hosts/seeds.

I'll have a re-planting and construct a ring of slug-death pellets when the weather is less shiteful.

Pickle the slugs instead of the cucumbers. I bet you _no-one_ will ever either notice, or complain about it.

We have bumper ferns and slugs here too. First time I've even seen slugs - normally we're just snails.

The little bastards almost disintegrated my pom pom plant, think its a chrysanthemum. Am now plotting revenge of the salty kind.

Nematodes seem to keep the population down but costly, although I get twitchy about resorting to biological warfare even if it is slugs we are talking about.

Sod them. I've gone out and laced the area with wee blue pellets.
