For MOT-related reasons, I'm bobbling about in a different 9000 while mine is being fettled by Justyn-who-does-SAABs (and who was pleased to tell me that he'd just bought a mint 9-5 Carlsson for 700 notes. The complete rotter).

It's a CS with the blower set to 'hooligan' and it is very silly indeed.

(Un)fortunately, I am forced to drive it for a few more days because the poor sod managed to crack the sump on mine...

On the other hand, the Youtubes has worked what I'm like (or at least what one facet is like) and keeps presenting me with DieselPr0n. Yes I would like some footage of a Bristol Hercules and/or a 60-litre V12 Paxman diesel. Although I have to say that I've been closer to that one than the camera-person (It is going to be a bloke though, isn't it.) and it's much more impressive when you're nose-to-injector with the thing.

Ye gods. That's a nasty thing to have happen after a rebuild.

Those (and there are many similars) are just amazing. Modern diesels are so reliable notw.

When I was a kid, the York-engined Transhits would sometimes have their governors fail like this. They'd usually run the big ends long before you got near a camera.

At Cummins there was a giant wooden cork for dropping into the air inlet. I don't think it ever failed, or any engine managed to eat it, but it had been sucked so tight into the pipe sometimes that it needed a slide hammer to pull it out again.

I so wouldn't stand on-axis to that prop.

I'll see your 60 litres and raise you 1820 litres per cylinder, for up to 14 of them.

Unfortunately I can't find any film of one brewing up. I'll let you know if I come across any.

I might not understand any of it, but I do read!

Stick with the 9k, having moved to a 9-5 with allegedly better performance I rather miss the torque at 2000rpm that dug me out of more than one incident with a Scania (and got me in a whole lot of trouble in the ice). Sad the poor thing died of clutch before I could import it.

This is my plan. I need to spend some money on the beast, but the value-wossname gets a bit wonky since one paid so little for it initially. I guess over the lifetime of the car, less than 600 quid/year is A Bargain.
