That's a lovely story. However, the bit that really hit me was right at the end:

"In some states and countries, our marriage would be forcibly revoked if I became legally female."

Like the UK. We should be fucking ashamed that we define marriage by whether they wear frilly knickers or yfronts - or by what they keep in them.
