(Normal people would be doing this on FaceAche, but, y'know, fuck normal.)

This was the Bath river path at the end of May, just handy for the spray-shop and the Herman Miller works, which is slightly more seventies industrial than Building One on the (ex) HPLB campus.

Do you know what the fluffy white stuff is? There was loads of it by the river in York too.

I'm fairly sure it came from the tree(s) in the background.

I thought that too but it was as though the catkins had exploded or something, because the volume of white fluff seemed completely disproportionate. We wondered if it was some kind of mould. I should google it, really.

Having a Google for 'willow fluff' will probably be illuminating. It's the first time I've seen yea-much of the stuff because it didn't rain for the thick end of a week, so it could build up into drifts. It really was half way between snow and fog some mornings.

Loads of it in South Norwood Country Park, too.

Yes I am pretty sure willows drop that kind of fuzzy stuff at that time of year! My Nan had a massive one in her garden.

My willow went one better this year and dropped a whole willow in my garden!

What's also intriguing is the shadow that you cast at the lower portion of the photo. Looks like you have a telescope or an automatic rifle set up and ready to go.

It's the shadow cast by the handlebars of my bike.

I am reminded of a cartoon in a book of wartime memorabilia for which the caption was "Passenger, ossifer? 'ee's me tail-gunner!"
