There's nothing like the combination of recently-mown grass + warm tarmac + diesel fumes + the generic smell of a warm June morning for reminding a chap that he should actually be pottering about the Three Counties Show, rather then indoors mucking about with computers.

Mind, they've moved the date. Poor show, chaps.

Is it just me or... Childhood memories are of us going to the now defunct Royal Show, and anyone who went to the 3 counties instead were a bit looked down on. Parental snobbery meant we never went to Malvern.

Either way, Tuesday's up at the Melton Farmer's Market (the proper sort, not the organic llama milk sort) does bring on a sort of nostalgia for all that stuff.

Hm. Other way up for us. Probably because the Three Counties was stuffed with exhibitors keen for pater's business, thus one was never far from a free lunch and a handful of promotional items.

Aye, I can think of any number of places I'd rather be than in the office this morning. Somewhere with woodland and water, for preference.

Likewise. I'm with you on the smell of warm farm machinery, but never had much time for agric shows. Too many rich greenwellies.

What I quite fancy (if I'm going to be doley scum pretty soon) is to get another discount ticket for a tree felling course, in weather where woodlands are good places to be.

PS - Westonbirt tickets. If you sign up right now, as of 1st June, it's the first of the 12 month rolling memberships, not the January to January ones.

I wonder if I can find an address for young Price. He'd know.

I'm in my basement today but do agree that I'd rather be pottering in the garden. however, I'm running a tour of the cemetery this evening which should be extremely pleasant

Ag-fairs are the mainstay of the New England summer-fall. The BIG one is the Big E (http://www.thebige.com/fair/index.html). Yes, I know...very subtle. They tend to get very crowded these days, what with the NY and So. Connecticut crowd coming "out to the country" on the weekends. I tend to stay away. :(
