Ballardian is as Ballardian does; dunes edging into car-parks, a building labelled 'space city' that could either have been an arcade or a museum of space-vehicle control computers, a semi-derelict eco-apartment complex and a bar named 'The Dunes' that was more suburban swingers than swinging hangout.

The choice rumour on Saturday even was that people had been shagging in the Tardis. You can do your own jokes.

I remember the 'Go Pontinental!' adverts. So, it seems, do parts of the infrastructure.

The media bits were pretty much exactly like being at one of the Bierkeller-based g*th endurance tests. (I note that someone's trying that again at The Fleece. Why do people think that sort of thing's a good idea?)

Do not watch 'Moon' while minding a hangover and feeling a bit fragile. I mean, good film and all, but Jayzus.

The lit bits were jolly good. Real ale required, mind.

Now to see if I can buy a pile of books from a thing which is neither Forbidding Prices or Those Tossbags Amazon.

No idea-we went self-catered. But, the flat didn't have a toaster or a microwave which made some cooking interesting.

By all accounts the food was dreadful - Ian's gathering people's opinions to help with future weekenders over at the SFX forum.

It was certainly, um, value-engineered. I've had worse (Trowell motorway services), but it was to be expected.

I like The Book Depository (http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/). They're usually within a few pence of Amazon's prices.

Hm. Yes. They also seem to be based in Gloucester, thus are clearly good sorts.

(There's a FB-thing dedicated to Gloucestershire bands of the 80s and it's a startling festival of haircuts and nostalgia.)

I'd never heard of The Book Depository till a couple weeks back, and now you're the second person who has recommended it.

The only downside with Abe, other than being a part of Those Tossbags Amazon, is that some vendors really do take the piss on the postage.
