Personally, I am very much digging more or less anything Michael Rother has had a hand in. The first (two) Kraftwerk LP(s) now have a lot more context, for instance.

I only didn't tick the first box because [livejournal.com profile] reddragdiva already did that and the resulting MP3s are sitting on our household server. He inflicts it upon unwary listeners plays that kind of stuff a fair amount. It was he who introduced me to Severed Heads, too; I'll admit I prefer the later more musical stuff to the earlier synthloops, but I'm usually willing to listen to most stuff at least once unless it's actually dissonant enough to be painful or screw badly with my mood.

Ooh. Severed Heads. Yes.

You could probably do worse than to poke through the Egg City Radio (http://www.eggcityradio.com) archives. (He has some La Dusseldorf (http://www.eggcityradio.com/?p=258) records in particular that are quite pleasingly krautrocky.)

I've been into synth music since I was 17. And that's not counting Jean-Michel Jarre.

Well _I_ heard Autobahn in fifth grade (age 11) and it CHANGED MY LIFE.

Also when I was 7 or 8 somebody played me some JMJ ("Equinoxe") but I didn't get it so I don't know if that counts.

And I saved up and bought myself a CZ101 when I was 14. SYNTHZ0R3D.

Well, uh, great!

Sometime around 1998 I was introduced to Bob Moog, shook his hand, and said thank you.

And Tomita. But probably my first exposure was to Vangelis' Heaven & Hell when I was still in primary school - I was perhaps about 9. We had a teacher who was something of a mixed up hippy - looked like Jesus but drove a Triumph Spitfire - and he was always introducing us to wierd and wonderful stuff. I can still hear those Intestinal Bats.

I learned a lot. And it's always good to see old fogies that are still, um, cool, if you'll pardon the use of the word.

You missed out the box for "haven't got round to watching either yet and will be further put off from the buying spree (I'm in the "artists should be compensated for their work camp", unfashionable as it may be) until I've paid off my credit card bill".

For future reference, I found that Gronland records were surprisingly cheap.

[x] Dancing about architecture.

However, BBC4 is getting it right again and again. I want all of my licence fee channeled to them.

Some bastard nicked my clear vinyl in clear inner sleeve in clear cover Faust when I was burgled [mumble] years ago. Took loads of other stuff as well of course (including my guitar, Arcam Alpha and big-but-crap speakers - they left the small but good ones ;) but it was the record that upset me most. Not as though they'd know what they had even - just took a random armful off the shelf (they left the Henry Ford themed second album).

Bah.

All of my Krautrock is on tape somewhere. I should dig out said box. In fact I should repair the tape player also otherwise that might be a rather pointless and frustrating exercise.
