I suspect it's just my currently stuffed brain chemistry, but when I see the word 'bubbly' applied to either a carbonated wine product or someone's personality, I tend to cringe and move in the general direction of Away.

I'm sure there are others.

"Bubbly personality" also implies "untimely and brutal demise" along with "out-of-focus graduation photo".

Perhaps these things are somehow related.

Actually, I'd suggest avoiding the word 'bubble' generally, particularly when coupled with 'financial' or 'perm'.

The more I think about the word, the less I care for the associations.

Nothing says "Su Pollard" like "bubbly".

Can one actually break something by cringing too much?

Yes. But sometimes it's the price you pay, in this cruel world.

I unpacked a box containing my kitchen spices late Sunday night. It included a turquoise bottle of Magic Bubbles. I hope to god I've never put them in stew.

Remember, when applied to people, bubbly is a synonym for air embolism.

Bubbly personality is usually code for "fat girl" as is "you have such a beautiful face..."

You don't like bubble wrap? Is this a marmite thing?

One of our cats delights in _licking_ bubble wrap.

Weirdo.

Ours lick it too. They prefer the pink anti-static kind with the big bubbles over the clear types.

The ferrets like making it pop. :)

Not often. Dante prefers the popcorn that Lush packages are packed with.

I've never tried it on toast.

You know how popping the bloody stuff is supposed to be a stress-reliever? Not around me you don't.

Although. Some expensive kit turned up in bubblewrap with pods the size of crisp packets. The bass pulse when those went off made the office sound like some charver ice-cream float/car was going past.

I'll never forget the ice-cream van I heard up in Nottingham, it played a extraorinary rendition of the theme tune from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

People who refer to champagne as "bubbly" deserve to be shot. With high velocity corks.

See also 'wacky' or 'zany' with regard to personalities. Anyone self-describing thus should be pushed off something high.
