... Which leads a chap to wonder why such images appeal so.

Reading about this in one or other of the original set of Eagle Annuals, which contained pictures of this splendid device, obviously leads to mental images of yon Tucker 743 hauling a motley shed-collection hover platform across a Trackless and Alien Expanse.

We also find this, which is possibly the best collection of pictures in the world ever. With the possibly exception of the late-model Range Rover, because they're just hateful.

A couple of decades after my mother moved house... leaving all of my Eagle annuals in the loft, I'm still really pissed off about it. Though mostly I'm annoyed about a Space Kingsley annual - he was a cheap rip-off of Dan Dare but I've never found any reference to the character since. Bah.

Have you got round to Alien Dust yet ? I believe it may be relevant to your quest.

I would also dispute his choice of that ghastly 1970s Lagonda monstrosity. There was nothing, NOTHING, to recommend it.

Ah, the Series II 109". Adorable.

Ah, memories of my childhood. I had a model Alvis for my 1:32 scale toy soldiers. I also built a 1:32 Afrika Korps HK101 as a young teen too.

Oooh yes. I'm happy to see that included a Kettenkrad, my favorite vehicle ever. (Aside possibly from the Delorean, but that's a different kind of thing.)

I was a little surprised that there were no Unimogs on the list, though.

There's a Bedford RL that lives in the backstreets of Cheltenham - Rosehill St off Hayles Road IIRC.
