Bang!1. Sithee.

(Thank you. We've been here all week.)

1. That was actually the aircon in the SAAB.

Sympathies. My 99 93 is for sale for around 750 pounds. It needs struts and then there's getting it across the pond....oh well.

Good Luck

Ta.

Given the thing emitted smoke, I'm very tempted to lever the thing from the dash and work out how to replace the blackened bits. If it's stuffed anyway, I'm not going to lose anything, and I have several spare fuses...

Poor SAAB.

Mind you, summer's finished now, so you'll be OK till next March.

Ye-es. As long as I don't need the demister or the rear window toaster either...

Ah. So, new dash-guts needed ? Just how much smoke was it ?

Possibly. IIRC you can get the module as an exchange unit... Ha. Sixty quid for a used one from Simply Saab.

About enough smoke for a 1/4W resistor. Although no smell of burning electronics.

Hm.

Best hoik it out and see what's going on with it - what can possibly go wrong?

You get the dash apart and find you've been driving a Granada with a bodykit for all these years ?

Is your car alergic to Whitby or something?

Saab - which, unless someone buys the marque from GM, will shortly cease to exist.

The purists would have it that everything post classic 900 wasn't a real Saab anyway. They're right.

Purists don't like ANYTHING to change from their favourite version, no matter what the product is.

"Double Deckers were better with raisins in" etc.

I hope someone does. I really love my Saab.

I took this photo about 5 hours ago, as I walked past the Classic Car Club's HQ in Old Street:

It seems they've at last come round to the notion that a 'classic' car doesn't have to be a late-model Ferrari or similar wheeled bling. I look forward to the day I see a Morris Minor in their yard!

...Preferably with a 16v Fiat engine dropped in it.

I looked at that 99 when stopping at the Hoxton the other month. It wants a bit of tidying up, but I'm told that the turbo-ed ones are a right laugh to drive.

The non-turbo ones weren't too bad (though not exactly rockets). And they were *very* durable.
