You know, this OS-Leper thing is much nicer than the previous one. It's about as good as KDE-3.x now.

You're just trying to annoy, now. Behave.

*smirk*

What if KDE was running on... Red Hat?

It would pop up a wee box going 'You are using the wrong GUI. This machine will reboot and then run Gnome for your comfort and convenience. Share and Enjoy.'

Ctrl-Alt-Cmd-8 to make it look as beautiful as KDE.

You know, I've no idea what that is and if it's parody or actually genuinely part of the mac "intuitive user interface".

Invert the colours on the screen, I think. So all the feldgrau-and-brushed-steel l33t merchants would get slightly lighter feldgrau and slightly lighter brushed-steel. Or vice-versa ;P

And in your case the light grey would become dark grey. :-)

Yeah, but there's not much of that. It's faffing with the black and white that bothers me ;P

all those xterm -bg feldgrau -fg brushedsteel -fn leetwanker; xsetroot -solid feldgrau" brigade are going to be see less difference ;P

(No - I don't know if they're real colours). ;)

It's intended for those with visual defects. I think the idea is not that it's easier to read /per se/ or something, but that sometimes, inverting the colours makes low-contrast things suddenly high-contrast and so on.

Saying that, I don't know anyone partially sighted who uses a Mac.

Mind, my blind mate [livejournal.com profile] ednun has been bad-mouthing Macs for years. He has many online blind mates who say they suck. But at New Year's, at a party at [livejournal.com profile] twistedanimator's, I sat him down in front of her G5 tower, turned on VoiceOver (OS X's integral screen-reader) and got him to play. He came away quite considerably impressed. Especially given that the Mac has, as part of the OS, something he has to pay £600 or something to a 3rd party to do on Windows.

It was just the bizarreness of what looks like a 4 key combo that got me. I don't usually see that outside of arcade games about fighting.

Ahhh. I always take things too seriously.

I suppose it's one you're not going to hit by accident and pretty damned unlikely to be claimed by some app!

Just say 'Finally, working multiple desktop support. Now I may open more xterms.'
