I was up relatively early (I prefer early relatives to late relatives, although we're all late eventually) and toddled out to the greengrocer's to fondle some fresh produce.

"I hope you don't think I'm being rude," says the teenage woman behind the counter. (oh shit here we go. That sort of phrase is always the prelude to trouble, along with 'I'm not being funny, but...') "But I really love your hair."

Well, colour me surprised and not a little cheered by that.

Elsewhere, this chap writes a great deal of sense.

You should not be surprised; you indeed have lovely hair. It has this silky shine to it that you did not have when I very first met you.

It is obvious that you are taking good care of it (Lush? Hubby is now hooked on the bar shampoo and conditioner, btw.) Also, good hair is generally an indicator of good health and so on. The girl was responding to her cultural and biological programming (i.e. that chap is a suitable mate).

I think it is great that the two of you have such nice looking hair. While I was out and about with your wife, she received many unsolicited compliments on her hair too. In my mind, you are The Good Hair Couple.

Which bar shampoo and conditioner did you buy (I've forgotten)?

Part of it is probably due to the lack of chemicals in the Lush products.
