Excellent work, chaps. I'm going to the shed to write for a bit.

I wish I had a shed

Did I not see a patch of garages at the bottom of your communal garden, or are those on a spectacularly long waiting list and thus filled with Austin A40s, 998 Coopers and the strategic reserve of UNIT SI Landies?

some of the flats have a garage, some of them have two, one of them has none.

There are actually a few very classic motors under tarps down there, alas - none of them are mine

Ah, right.

When I say 'shed' I mean 'clear patch amid the piles of dead computers, bits of wood that will come in handy one day and part-dismembered bicycles in the garage.'

It's not a cottage, but it's quiet, has a view of the Buddleia and is thus far distraction-free.

Other than the MTB wanting new wheel bearings. Bugger.

Haemish was shopping from here for a similar bearing-related issue:

if sealed races are where you're at.

Na. Loose balls. (OO Matron, etc) I just need a set for the front. And a two-pin sideways spanner for the bloody Suntour cassette.

The bloke in Fred Baker Cycles offered to lend me his set of cone spanners...

... God, maybe I am turning into James May.

There are worse fates. If you haven't heard it before, see 'Dismissal..' here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_May
for an exploit illustrating his essential Good Chap nature.

How'd it go. If I send hob nobs and weak lemon squash will you dedicate your 1st book to me.

Pretty good, ta.

If I ever get around to needing to write a book dedication, I shall take as my template the sleevenotes for 'No sleep 'til Hammersmith'. (Or maybe it was Ace of Spades. The one with the 'Lying down by the fire/getting up by closing time' line)
