  • A downloadable compilation of mad records found in second-hand shops. More than a little odd.
  • Bill Hicks. Because.
  • But will it work when drunk?
  • Paypal appears to be ignoring the exchange rate right now. Now that's going to be fun for someone to explain...

[Update: Paypal seems to be 'offering' an exchange-rate of 0.97 $/£, which is a considerable distance from the current market rate. Even allowing for usual exchange-rate excuses, that looks to me like it borders on the usurious. (and not even slightly the rate they were using a couple of days ago) UK sellers beware... I've logged a query with TPTB, and I look forward to clarification of the issue in the near future.]

[And again: Looks like it's mended. Of course I'm now giving myself a severe kicking for not having the wit to transfer the dollar balance into pounds while it was broken. On the other hand, do I look like some kind of forex wideboy?]

Paypal always ignored the exchange rate. It uses its own exchange rate.
Or do you mean.. $20 becomes £20?

I would (fondly) imagine, in my naieve and trusting manner, that it would be within a couple of percent of the current market rate. ($1.58 to the £1, from the BBC webshite)

However, I logged an experimental (because I like having documentary evidence) transaction where £3.86 was converted to... $3.77. One would have expected something closer to six quid...

until a few days ago the exchange rate was indeed about £1 = $1.55. never matching the exchange rate, but close enough.

bizarro. if you get a chance and you do hear back from paypal, let me know what they have to say about it (g@skinmail.co.uk), we're currently doing all our online sales via paypal ...
