The infernal combustion engine
May. 14th, 2006 10:18 pmPottered to & from the docks on Saturday. Disturbingly, I'm weak as a kitten that's learned to ride a pushbike and operate a Lomo. Bum.
Anyway, I feel the need to go look at a Deltic and explore the far reaches of the Science Museum. (Assuming they've not buggered it up and hidden the Apollo capsule because it's not interactive enough.)

Date: 2006-05-15 02:48 am (UTC)There is also such a thing as the National Space Centre in Leicestershire. I've not been there but several mates have held sequencer-ridden EM fests there and speak well of it. YMMV of course.

Date: 2006-05-15 03:12 pm (UTC)I keep driving past the V2-signs for the Space Centre and thinking 'I really ought to go look at that'. Then I'm confronted with the annoyance that's the M1 and I have to think about avoiding BMWs instead.
One day.
And Kemble. And Bovington. And Porthcurno.

Date: 2006-05-15 04:59 am (UTC)It's now in York (http://www.vryork.com/national-railway-museum-2006/source/delticr.html).
There was actually some talk about getting it running again, but apparently certain vital bits are missing.
If you want to track down other Deltics, I dare say the essential info can be dug out of this site (http://www.preserved-diesels.co.uk).

Date: 2006-05-15 03:10 pm (UTC)I was sort-of-vaguely planning to go to York to look at a bunker.
I'd better dig out my 'Anorak Pilot Corporation' nametag.
