If you follow the link in the last one to the complete works of the chap, there are many sectioned illustrations of stairways and the like. However, they've been given a strange Ballardian-landscaped (Sod Capability Brown. I want my estate landscaped by JGB) background so that they resemble the bits of factory in the Book of Splendid German Pictures. Which leaves a chap with the impression of a vast parkland dotted with half-follies and sectioned nearly-buildings that's peopled by enigmatic women wearing bird masks in the stillness of the late afternoon.
And (let me guess) that filled you with the urge to live there and perform surrealist pranks on the unsuspecting shepherdesses that tend the flocks of meek little steam-robots ?
