You know, there's enough bright people hereabouts to knock together some stand-up...

In fact - LJ would be much more fun if instead of 'talk like a pirate day' (Oh do piss off) there was 'post as if possessed by the uneasy spirit of Bill Hicks day'.

There's a reason I hang out at http://uncyclopedia.org/ a lot.

I'm glad that's your reaction also, to 'talk like a pirate day'

I think that once, maybe twice was enough, you know? Why not have another idea for some situationist/surrealist prank, instead of re-hashing the same one?

It's like the meat/accident thing or the parrot sketch.

How about "Behave like a normal adult day". I'm sure some of LJ could manage it.

Are you sure?

It all depends what you mean by "normal", really.

You know, I've been trying to think of 'normal adult' things, but it always goes a bit Chappist.

I dunno. Maybe I should go to a 'mall', purchase consumer durables in a variety of bloody colours on a variety of hire-purchase agreements, stuff a 'cheeseburger' in my face and waddle around in inflammable 'sportswear' like the rest of the gormless, mouth-breathing, spherical bastards that infest such places. Then I could come home and 'blog' about the futility of it all before watching shite telly interrupted every ten minutes by Global Corporate Headquarters attempting to sell me more of the same.

Or, indeed, not.

I bumped into [livejournal.com profile] mr_tails recently. He was recently back from an expedition to London where some Action Chappiste had gone on, involving lots of riding up and down the elevators of the Trocadero, doffing hats to ladies.

There'll be some puzzling videos of it back in Tokyo by now.

Quite. It was funny the first time, but after that - not so much!

"Go back to bed America, your government is in control agsin..."

I'm happy to lend my name to support a campaign to drop the pirate twaddle and adope Bill Hicks as the patron saint of LJ ;)

Are you talking about Bill Hicks Day on a different date than Pirate Day, or is this intended to be a hostile takeover?

There are people who get a great deal of fun out of Pirate Day, and I'm not about to rain on their parade. But I think a Bill Hicks day would be brilliant.

Yes. No. Fair enough. Jolly good.

[FX: Googlage]

Pirate thing - September. (Website, weight of numbers, media buy-in, t-shirts, etc)

Hicks thing - February. (As mentioned in post, me having a laugh)

I invoke the late, great one wth my standing question: Lee Harvey Oswald, where are you now that your country needs you?

My journal normally IS imbued with the spirit of Bill Hicks! Unfortunately, like the bible, the word of God is often tainted by the thoughts of mere mortals.

Goth comedy, there should be more of it! Definately. I had considered stand up but not sure I would cut the mustard. My brain works slowly...effective over the long term, it just picks and chooses it's moments of brilliance.

But, that's every day for the likes of young DT.

Standup, a good idea, if I could get someone else to do the actual standing up. This is just another nudge in the direction Mikey suggested 6 years ago... I might take the hint soon.
