I'm not sure which I like best; the space reserved for the orchestra, or that there's an airplane hangar in each tail.

Two wine stewards (sommeliers?) and a narrow-gauge railway in the engine room for carting broken motors about.

Of course, the thing would be much more at home doing the Empire Run.

The B-36 had in-flight access to the engines in the wing, but no railway. One of them had a nuclear reactor installed for test purposes, though I don't think it did anything but sterilise the flight crew.

Funnily enough I was on that very site the other day, looking for Eole pictures... It's a small interweb.

I now want to find pictures of the recovery gear. It all sounds like the inspiration for Thunderbirds. Especially the illustration in the second link.

"The crew was a Pilot, Co-pilot, Reactor Operator, Instrumentation Operator and a Flight Engineer."

There's a phrase you wouldn't want to hear in the captain's announcement when the doors are locked and the plane's taxi-ing: "Your Co-Pilot this morning is Captain Jones, you Reactor Operator is..."

Reminds me of something from the 'Venus Wars' anime... Cool!

have you seen any of the current designs for flying wing type planes floating about? they're very, very similar. most of them are suggesting a movie theatre for the centre of the plane, and only a few rooms, though. when i first saw one i also dug out a good description of one from an old SF story.
