... And here we are back from the place that doesn't feel quite as far away as the edges of Worcestershire, but is clearly the inspiration for scenery local to Rupert the bear. (as opposed to the other Rupert, who is far too important for this sort of thing)

It's full of aerodromes.

I was talking to a bloke about petrol pumps (as I do, and if you don't there's probably something wrong with you. Why are you reading this again?) and the conversation wandered around cages for tyres (to contain them when they explode) toward aerodromes. I named a couple in the area, and he listed a good half-dozen more. Bloody odd.

If you've summoned me by name here in the last week or so, there's a better than average chance that I've not seen it. (Unless I replied, obviously) Sorry about that. Was off having a life. (So it's probably worth prodding me over whatever it may be)

[ Steppin' out - Joe Jackson; Remind me (club mix) - Royksopp; Soon - MBV; A walk in the black forest - The Tijuana Brass; Superelectric - Stereolab ]

Oh. Yeah. The (Lomo) LC-A arrived while we were elsewhere. [Bugger!] It was stuffed in a Polish tupperware box with a colour photocopy of the Russian manual. Hm. Seems all present and correct... Batteries included [ after I'd bought a half-dozen. Bugger^2 ] ... Um. Can't wind the film on to load it since the shutter interlock doesn't want to play ... Oh, the rewind-disengage is stuck. I'll lever it out with a sharp knife ... crack [ Bugger^3!] ... Opens bottom of camera, shakes out broken bits of plastic into spare film canister and fiddles a bit with pawl/shutter assembly ... Ha! Gottim! Just wants a bit of use, I'll be bound. I'll stick a knife in the works when I need to get the film back out; it'll be fine.

First impression? Nice weight and size, controls obvious and handy. This one seems to have led a careful yet active life, given the state of the scuffs. Time and the photo-lab will no doubt tell. Dunno that I'd spend the amount of money that the Lomographic Society of Nathans want for the things, but I can see why the Russians borrowed the design of the beast.
