It seems obvious now, but the nokia and the lomo have given me new ways of seeing things. At least, that's what I think is going on.
So today, while throwing things at random into a black ripstop holdall, which is as close to the action of packing as I can stand to be, I grabbed the minidisc recorder. It was the sort of whim that I only half understand, yet they'll drive my life in interesting directions if I let them. The half I understand was likely driven by exiting the gig of the year half deaf and sweat-soaked. After standing in front of a PA big enough to not only make my hair stand on end, but to blow it back and forth as well, it made sense to have a reason to stand in the middle of nowhere and pay attention to birdsong and natural microsounds.
So that's what I've been doing. I'll post the recordings when we get back.
I like it here. It's not quiet, but... New ways of listening.
