I don't even remember the theme to the Professionals.

I do remember Wolfrace slot mags though, and the surprisingly garden-shed like building (somewhere Pontypoolish) that they turned them out from. Went past it randomly one day and there's the sign, "Wolfrace wheels, home of the aspirational tank-top for Capris since 1972", and it's on a tattered looking Nissen hut.

Well of course I know what a Capri is, and that a vinyl roof doesn't show your double chin in unflattering reflection.
I tried to rememeber the Professionals teme tune, but got stuck in The Sweeney instead.

[*] I'm ok with cars but crap at telly.

Oh, so *that's* a slot mag. I thought it was some peculiar euphamism for pr()n.

If it was a mark 1 I'd whistle the Sweeny choon.

If it was a Mark 1 1600GT in pale blue with Vinyl roof I'd find the owner and start negotiations to get my much loved old car back.

I am minutes away from explaining the entire post with pictures culled from the internets, but the only examples I can find of a ratty Amazon estate with proper ancient slot mags won't load in-page, which is a great shame because it looks utterly splendid.

On the other hand, it wouldn't make sense to most people because, ugh, cars.

I wish I'd bought that mk1 Granada coupe. On the other hand, I was skint and had nowhere to put it.

I know what a Capri is but didn't grow up with The Professionals so can't tick a box. :(

I am loving the reruns of the Professionals on ITV4 - especially Mr Cowley as I also really love Hudson as well.

What was the really small orange Japanse thing, with the thick black surround on the rear window, which was oval. I'm almost certain it was a Honda, but have managed to convince myself over the years that I must have imagined the whole thing.

Me too. I make more of an effort to watch ITV4 these days just to prove to them that it's not 'bloke telly'.

As for the poll:

[X] and think 'I used to have one of those'.

Honda Z600 - early '70s. One of our schoolteachers had one, I've still got the Haynes manual for one somewhere. Interesting design - it really is a motorbike under the bonnet, gearbox and all. Any colour you like, so long as it was orange with a black stripe. I guess you were supposed to hang it off your Avenger Tiger as a dinghy. Crap suspension though, nearly as primitive as a Capri.

It was called a "600" because there was an even smaller-engined "350" for the Japanese home market.

I'll raise the tone and post The Equalizer.

You know why Edward Woodward walked everywhere in the Equalizer? Because that car in the opening credits was a Jag...

An abomination:

The racing ones looked fairly good, although I understand were exactly as reliable as one might imagine.

What's the Triumph? It has square headlights, so doesn't that make it a Toledo rather than a Dolomite? The Dolomite was bad (over-powered RWD shopping trolley with nasty bite-yer-bum handling) but the Toledo (Spitfire engine made to go transverse FWD) is something we just don't talk about.

Why is the driver wearing a crash helmet? Although he seems to be on a nice empty stretch of road with Armco to keep him from other cars, is he really that afraid the vile shitheap might spontaneously crash?
