Friday saw us charging down the M5 in a south-westerly direction. Because I'd previously trundled in that direction in a succession of horrible cars, I grossly overestimated the time required for the trip. Thus we pitched up at The Hotel ridiculously early. As luck would have it, the fine staff had already made our room ready, so we took the opportunity to catch 40 winks (though it was probably nearer 80) before putting on a good shirt and toddling down to The Terrace for a spot of luncheon. Again, the fine staff excelled themselves, and we were tucking in to a splendidly fortifying repast before a chap could say 'knife'.

The business of luncheon concluded, I amused myself by taking an extended tour of inspection of The Grounds while P. retired to our apartments. Carelessly, I had not supervised the packing properly, so the manservant had not included my bathing costume and I was unable to take advantage of either swimming pool. The (floodlit) croquet lawn and nine-hole golf course provided more than adequate compensation for that oversight, however. Eventually, I found myself a rock to perch on in a splendidly secluded inlet and whiled away some time toasting myself and watching the world go by. (in a pair of zebra-stripe Sea Kings blatting about at zero feet.)

As luck would have it, the rest of the party arrived shortly after my return to The Terrace, so we fell to discussing the finer points of the morrow's events over a pre-dinner snifter or three. I returned briefly to our rooms to hunt out a jacket and tie before rejoining everyone in the cocktail bar and beetling onwards to the dining room, where we were provided with another quite splendid repast. And so, once again, to The Terrace, where I am informed that I'm related to a German spy.

[ Enough of that. It was crap. ]

The Wedding itself was... Wedding-like. The bride, Anita, looked damn fine, and the speeches were well-controlled. Company excellent - A set of people I'd not seen in a careless number of years, and the alcohol flowed in a liquid and plentiful manner.
