Via the splendid Ken MacLeod (an ever-correct and iron-forged weapon in the hands of progressive peoples everywhere), we find this. It makes my brains hurt and I understand about two-thirds of it, but that which I do understand surprises me not at all.

Still feel repulsive. Bugger.

Read it - Ken totally rules the school, doesn't he?

Have you read The Execution Channel?

Not yet. I thought that the Engines of Light set wasn't as good as the Fall Revolution books, so I've been off in different directions. I'd better get my finger out, I think.

/scans...

Ah well, not quite the half of it. And I don't even have the quant side of the house. These guys are just looking at it from one angle.

Well, if you ever want a lengthy rant/despondency arm-waving, buy me a couple stiff drinks and get ready for hair curling. Erm, since that's the financial services market I live in. Ahem.

Then ask me about the systems protecting this market sector. Whee!

Really good drinks mind you. And maybe a bottle of water.

Just purchased that from Waterstones...and I've just finished reading Cosmonaut Keep (my first Ken Macleod book). I have the Engines of Light trilogy and the Fall Revolution books yet to read (as well as most of Charlie Stross's other stuff).

That sounds like a jolly interesting avenue of research. Not that I'm at all interested in how one might crack a Large Financial Institution, dear me no.

I'd expect bright shiny things for "important people" and "creaky but sturdily functional old gear" for the backbone, much like a lot of the healthcare world, ne?
